Chelsea High School Was Briefly on Lockdown on Thursday

Chelsea — Chelsea High School went into a temporary lockdown Thursday morning over concerns that a despondent 16-year-old boy might be headed to the school with a bow and arrow, according to Vermont State Police.
Police were called to a home along Route 110 in Chelsea around 9 a.m. for a report that the teen was threatening suicide, had a bow and arrow, and had “threatened to kill anybody that came to the residence,” police said in a news release.
Before police could arrive, they were told the boy was riding his bike to the high school and the school “went into temporary lockdown as a precaution,” the release said.
Police found the boy outside the school and also determined he had no intention of harming anybody at the school. He also was not in possession of any weapon, police said. The lockdown ended after about 25 minutes.
The boy was taken to the Royalton State Police barracks and received a juvenile citation on a domestic assault charge, the news release said. Police also requested an emergency mental health evaluation from the Clara Martin Center.
